Preliminary Task - Storyboards

Preliminary Task - Evaluation

Evaluation
  1. How did you use media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluation stages?
I started off using Prezzi, to explain different shots used within filming. This was interesting, because I have used Prezzi before, but not that much, so it taught me a lot. It also taught me how to add YouTube videos into Prezzi. I then created a Blog on Blogger which I could put my work on. I'd used blogger in the past so this helped me develop and improve on blogging.
I used Photoshop to create a logo for my film company which I called Film Arc.

This was my original logo which I created on Photoshop. When we got together as a group, we decided to combine all of our logos. We called it Film Arc from my logo, used the outline of Danielle's logo, and added parts of Emily and Bonnies logos to that. This was the logo we drew and then edited on Photoshop.

When discussing our final logo design, we used a tripod to film what we were saying. We also filmed it using an iPod 5, and we were quite happy with the quality it produced when filming. When we finished recording the discussion, we uploaded it to YouTube.
After we decided on our logo, we used Open Office to write up a script for our preliminary task. Open Office is similar to Word, but free and used on Macs.
When we filmed our actual task we used an iPod 5 again, which again, was a good quality of recording. When we finished, we looked decided to make our own song in Garage Band, as this way we didn't have to breach copyright, and it makes our task more personal.

  1. What do you think of the overall product? What changes would you make and why?
I think the overall product is of pretty high standard, there are things we could cut shorter to make it snappier, and bits we could add to make it make more sense, but overall the product is high standard. I think we need to add a bit to show where Bonnie was in relation to the rest of the room, and I also think there are a few sections were me and Bobbie are talking and the gap between the start of the clip and when we start talking is too long, and therefore loses some of the tension.

  1. Are you happy with the dialogue, actors and shots you chose? Would you make adjustments next time?
I think the dialogue we created as a group built tension, and made sense to the piece we were creating.
I think we made a good call with the actors, but next time think it might be better if all of the actors are people who are not in our media group, as it means we can all contribute more to the filming of the project.
I think where we picked to do certain shots, like the match on action and shot reverse shot were all at a good point within the project, and they brought the project more to life.
If I were to adjust anything, I would try to find a better room to film in. We didn't have many options around school, so the room we ended up choosing had a lot of artwork on the wall, which wouldn't be there in an actual interrogation film. I would also have done more with costumes, to create the characters more with our actors, and show the audience who the characters were.

  1. Did the project take too long to make?
The project took us about an hour to film, in order to create the shots we needed. Danielle did the first bit of editing, which took her about 4 hours, and after we watched it over again, we decided on bits of the project we didn't like, and added music we created in Garage Band to it. This took us about 6 hours in total.

  1. Did you complete a risk assessment?
Yes we did. We assessed whether or not the door would close, and how secure the table and the chairs were. We also made sure that the lamp we used was safe to use. We also wanted to make sure the slap wouldn't hurt Bobbie.

  1. Are the techniques you used to make your solution adequate or would you use a different range of techniques? Is the solution better?
I feel that we did enough in our risk assesment, ensuring everything was secure and wouldn't break.

  1. What are the views of other people regarding your product? Does it work for your audience?
A variety of people liked the use of quick camera shots as they thought this added tension to the project, and showed various angles. It made the project fast paced and that is a good technique. However, they think it seemed under rehearsed, and not very detailed in planning, so a more detailed

  1. What changes are required? Why?
We needed to add a bit so we could see where Bonnie (The Guard) was in relation to the rest of the room.
